Veteran’s Day Concert

About 5 years ago, the Community Chorus of Dunn, that met at Hood Memorial Christian Church, hosted a Veteran’s Day Concert.  This year we again are hosting the Veteran’s Day Concert for our community but it will be a little different.  This year, Hood Memorial Christian Church is offering this concert to our community as our gift to the veterans and their families and our way of saying thank you.

We will have many special guests present at this concert.  We have gathered a community chorus especially for this event and they will sing two patriotic medleys.  Also, we are so excited to welcome back to Hood Memorial Christian Church the Master’s Men.  The Master’s Men is an a capella men’s chorus from the Raleigh area.  They will be singing a set of familiar southern gospel tunes.

Also, we will welcome several local veterans and friends of our congregation to perform beautiful musical numbers.  These friends include SGM Lynn Widener & Eddie Atkins, vocals, and Willie Dupree, saxophone.

Prior to the concert, starting at 3:30, the North Carolina Patriot Riders will be posted in front of the sanctuary to welcome our guests.  Also, as you come up the front steps into the sanctuary, you will also be serenaded by bagpipe player, Lloyd Johnson.

During the concert we will hear from several local officials including the Mayor of Dunn, the Harnett County Sheriff, a Judge, and one of our North Carolina senators as well as other guests you may recognize from our church family.

We invite all veterans to process into the sanctuary together during the beginning of the concert.  The veterans will gather in the chapel at 3:30 pm and begin to line up.

As you can tell, we are very excited about presenting this special program to our community and saying thank you.  This is a great way to share the wonderful things going on in our church with our community. Please join us, invite veterans that you know, invite your friends and neighbors.  We do have tickets so that we can keep up with how many may be attending.  Tickets are FREE!  If you need tickets you can contact Pastor Joanie, Rick Lashmit, Robie Hardison, or call the church office at 910-892-2711.
