Mountains We Have Climbed

Psalm 121

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Reflect: Spend time in prayer and meditation this week reflecting upon some of the mountains you have climbed through your life. Each day focus on a different mountain from your past. Read Psalm 121 at the beginning of your prayer and give thanks for making it up the mountain.

Practice: Make time this week to write about one of the mountains you have climbed. Describe the mountain, the journey up the hill, the difficulties you faced, and the feelings you had. Was God with you watching over and protecting you? Did you feel that way while climbing? Or can you only see God’s presence in hindsight? Write down your reflections on how God watched over you. Lastly, did you make it to the top? If so, what did life looked like from the top?
