How Do You See Yourself?

Remember the Centurion that asked Jesus to heal his slave? He built a synagogue for the Jewish people in his community, but considered himself unworthy to have Jesus in his home. Look closer at Jesus’ response. Jesus judges the Centurion, but not in the way you might think!

The ONLY judgment Jesus placed on the centurion was that he is worthy and faithful.  The centurion did not believe himself worthy to have Jesus come to his home.  But, Jesus saw his faithfulness and did find him worthy.  Even though the centurion didn’t see himself as worthy…Jesus did.

Which leads us to this question: How do you see yourself?  Do you see yourself the way Jesus does?  Are you willing to call yourself worthy and faithful?

– from Sunday’s Message by Pastor Joanie

Miss Sunday’s Message?

Read it here:  What’s Your Name (Luke 7:1-10)

Next Steps from Sunday’s Message

  • Reflect: Look at the names for Jesus on the cover of your bulletin. Study those names.  Which one(s) stand out to you?  Which one screams out to your soul?  Reflect on that name and what it means to you.
  • Reflect: How do you see yourself? What names would you give yourself as a follower of Christ?  Worthy, faithful, others?  Spend time considering what name you would give yourself.
  • Practice: Spend time in prayer this week using the name for Jesus that stood out to you. Repeat that name over and over.  Also, ask God for eyes to see yourself the way God sees you.  Ask God for guidance to claim the goodness inside that God sees.
