Supporting One Another During COVID-19
One of the ways we can continue to be the church during this current time of limited physical interaction, social distancing, out-of-stock retail stores, and enhanced sanitization is to share our resources and offer delivery services to those in high-risk groups.
Do you need cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies, basic food items (e.g. bread, water)? We may know someone who has plenty to share!
Would you benefit from someone running errands for you because you are in a high-risk group and need to avoid public places? We have healthy, low-risk volunteers who can help with shopping and/or pick-up-delivery for you!

Third Week of Lent
A wilderness exists between them. Samaria (currently known as part of the West Bank) was a region between Judea and Galilee, a place most Jews journeyed around, not through. Long-standing religious animosity existed between Jews and Samaritans. By cultural standards, a woman was not to encounter a man alone, and it was considered indecent for a man to speak to a woman in public places.
A wilderness of isolation and shame exists within the woman. She has had too many husbands, but not by choice. She’s been labeled infertile, and in turn, been divorced and passed around from man to man. She’s been widowed, grieving men who have died from sickness and from war. She’s had to sell her body to survive. She’s been shunned and shamed by other women. She’s been objectified and sexualized since she was a child. She’s still a child, but she’s lived a hundred lives. She is one woman, but she holds within herself the pain and secrets of thousands of women throughout time and space.
And in this wilderness terrain—a space where she is both vulnerable and alone, where she blends in but also longs to be seen—she is sought out, welcomed, known. That’s all she needs, really—to be seen. Really seen and truly known. A wilderness exists between them, and yet the wilderness brings them together. The wilderness becomes a place to begin again. She leaves her jar behind, filled instead with a new story to share.

We will connect each day this week at Noon for a daily devotional led by Pastors Joanie and Jason. Each day, for 15-20 minutes, we will gather using the same conference call technology that we used for our worship this past Sunday. Join us Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM on Facebook Live! A couple of our parents came up with a creative Wednesday evening Children’s Activity–virtually. Just like our Tea and Tunes or our Pizza parties; we will sing, dance, hear Bible Stories, make crafts together, and be reminded how much God loves us. 6:30 PM Wednesday evening.
Parents: here are some items you will need to prepare ahead of time
1. an outdoor space to watch and participate if possible
2. sidewalk chalk
3. pine cones
4. peanut butter
5. bird seed, or any seeds or crushed nuts you might have handy
6. a Bible
7. Tell a friend
***Pine cones and sidewalk chalk will be available on the sidewalk outside of the main entrance of Hood Memorial Christian Church beginning at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. You may stop by and pick up a few of these items to use if you need them.
