The Lord’s Prayer- Part 5

Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.

Luke 11:4

The next part of the Lord’s Prayer is “and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil”. Adam Hamilton encourages us to move the comma so that the prayer would read more like “Lead us, not into temptation (like I would lead myself)”. We want God to lead us. And the more we follow God, the more we allow God to lead us, the less we will fall into temptation. Our prayer changes our thought patterns.

  • What temptations do you face?
  • What are the temptations we face as a nation or as humankind?
  • How can we participate in this prayer? How can we lead? How can we turn from temptation?
  • How has God rescued you or saved you?
