This past Tuesday I was out at Midway High School working with their Marching Band. The band is about halfway through their performance and competition season. Part of the way through practice, I began to notice a lot of tension and nerves within the students. Before the end of practice, some of the tension boiled over. After helping the students and staff deal with a conflict, it hit me: this kind of thing almost always happens in groups at the midway point towards their goal. Now, the students, parents and staff had......
Last year about this time, we kicked of a series called Freeway and encouraged everyone to participate in a small group during the series. We had great feedback from folks about small groups. In fact, one of our new small groups kept meeting all year long! Many of you have been asking about joining an ongoing small group. So, here we go! Let’s party!! As a whole, the Church (universal) does not always do a great job of celebrating along our journey together. We have certain celebrations that are......
Today is election day for all of us in the US. And I am hesitant to write this because the election brings about intense feelings for so many folks. And yet I am compelled to acknowledge this day in the life of our community…and remind us that despite the votes we cast today, we are first and foremost followers of Jesus Christ, who is neither Republican nor Democrat because such divisions are human creations, not God creations. Today, change will come in some way, shape or form. And, as I said on......
