Pool Party for Children and Youth

We invite our children, youth, and their families to a pool party this Saturday, July 25th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Lashmit’s home. Please contact Joanie for an address. We will have snacks, dinner, treats and a lot of social distancing fun. We want to provide an opportunity for our children to come together, see one another, and celebrate summer in a safe way. We encourage the kids and families to bring any hygiene kits that they have put together. Our goal is twenty bags from our children and families.

Service Opportunity: The Church World Service is running critically low on hygiene kits. As we approach hurricane season, we want to make sure they have plenty of supplies for those in need. Our Children’s Class wants to challenge the rest of the church. The children are working on making 20 hygiene kits. They would like to challenge the entire congregation to meet their goal of 20 hygiene kits or pass their goal!! (That would be at least 40 hygiene kits from Hood Memorial) Our deadline to collect the hygiene kits is August 1st. Each hygiene kits costs approximately $5-10 dollars and needs to include the following items:

  • one hand towel (approximately 15″ x 28″ or 16″ x 32″, no fingertip, bath, dish towel, or micro-fiber)
  • one washcloth
  • one wide-tooth comb removed from the package
  • one fingernail or toenail clipper removed from the package
  • one bath size bar of soap in the original package
  • one toothbrush in the original package
  • 10 standard Band-Aids
  • ALL ITEMS NEED TO FIT INSIDE A ONE-GALLON ZIPLOC TYPE BAG

Camp Caroline Connects

Have you, your children, grandchildren, or other family members taken a look at Camp Caroline Virtual Camp? There is still time to participate. All of the weeks of camp are posted online and they are separated by age group. There are wonderful lessons and creative ways of learning Bible stories, fun activities, and even arts and crafts. The NC Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has done a beautiful job making sure our children and young people still have ways to engage in camp-like, Christ-centered activities through this virtual camp. Our family has enjoyed reading scripture together, watching videos that tell Bible stories, listening to books, dancing, learning new songs, engaging with nature through scavenger hunts, and participating in simple art projects. Feel free to share the following link with other families to spread the good work our region. https://ncdisciples.org/virtual-camp/
