Our Father’s Business

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Luke 2: 41-49 (KJV)

This past Sunday, Minister Kenny Cameron from Empowered to Succeed Ministry invited us to think about whether or not we are about our “Father’s Business?” Are we waking up each day concerned about what God would have us do? If you missed Minister Cameron’s message, you can watch it here:

Ladles of Love (LOL)

Our church family has an amazing team of committed folks who prepare and deliver over 25 meals every Thursday to the residents of Cottondale. In addition, we visit the homebound folks within our congregation and deliver food from the DUMA Food Pantry to around 8 people in the Dunn-Erwin area that simply cannot get out of their house to the Food Pantry for pickup.

Ladles of Love is a tremendous mission opportunity for every single person connected to our church family! You can help in so many ways that will fill your heart, your head and your soul with goodness. So here’s the thing: There is a place for you!

There is a space for you to be part of Ladles of Love. You can prepare something simple ahead of time on Tuesday or Wednesday evening from your home. You can personally deliver a snack-meal after work on Thursday to one of our homebound folks. You can even tell us what you would like to do and we will find a way to make it happen!

Contact Pastor Jason, John Johnson, or Beulah Pope to talk about ways you can help!

Cards and Goodies for Hospital Staff

Can you sit down one day this week or weekend and make a card for the nurses and staff at our local hospitals?  Could you purchase or make a batch of cookies for those that are working tirelessly to care for others? Maybe you could sit down with a child or grandchild and draw some pictures together.  The staff, nurses, and doctors need a boost of JOY!!!

We heard from a chaplain from the local hospitals that the morale of doctors, nurses, and staff is very low.  They are tired, sad, and worn out more than ever—still dealing with COVID-19.

You may bring cards or other goodies to the church anytime.  Please contact Pastor Joanie if you have questions or would like to drop something at the church.
