Our Cups are Overflowing

In those days, Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him “This is what the Lord says, ‘Give instructions to your household, for you are about to die; you will not get well.” Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayer to the Lord, “Please, Lord. Remember how I have served you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion, and how I have carried out your will.” Then Hezekiah wept bitterly.

The Lord’s message came to Isaiah, “Go and tell Hezekiah: ‘This is what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: “I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I will add fifteen years to your life. I will also rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will shield this city.”

Isaiah 38:1-6 (NET)

This Sunday, during her message, Rev. Dr. Terrie Hampton Jones reminded us that our cups are overflowing. And when our cups are overflowing with devotion & blessings from our cup, we must also make sure our cups are overflowing with hope, charity, and love for others.

Hezekiah was hit with some rather hard news in his life. He turned to the Lord and remembered the Lord’s blessing and asked the Lord to remember him. When Hezekiah turned towards God, remembered the blessings of the Lord, God then took action and was with Hezekiah and offered more blessings in his life. Hezekiah’s cup was overflowing and even reached out to help save his people from the king of Assyria.

How is your cup overflowing? How is your overflowing cup reaching and blessing the lives of others?
