- Reflect: Think about an argument or difficult conversation you have had recently. How would you describe the different sides of the conversation? Imagine that God is not on your side or the other person’s side. What might God day to you about the disagreement? What might be a third way of understanding the issues at stake that transcends both perspectives?
- Reflect & Practice: Spend time each day this week reading the Bible. Look for places where the Bible sounds conservative and places where it sounds liberal. How might the Bible be inviting you to transcend these deeply divided positions in the world today. How can you create a habit of always looking for Jesus’ third way?

Church Board Retreat – This Saturday
This Saturday, February 22, members of the Church Board will gather to plan and strategize for the upcoming year. You are welcome to attend, but please contact Pastors Jason or Joanie to get directions and info.
We will look at the past year to evaluate the ministries of our church family through the lens of our church mission statement:
to serve Christ by mutually supporting one another and embodying God’s grace and love for all.
Hood Memorial Christian Church Mission Statement
Using our evaluation and innovation, we will begin putting together a calendar of ministry for the coming year. We will also begin looking at some big items and ideas that are coming before the church family this year, such as potential Campbell ministry intern, new outreach opportunities, addressing water seeping in through brick, and others.
If you have any thoughts, questions, concerns, or ideas for consideration, we would love to hear them before Saturday. Contact a member of the church board or one of the pastors.

A Sunday evening small group will meet for 6 weeks to support you in examining your life and your relationship to God. Conversation and reflection will be fueled by David Platt’s Something Needs To Change.
If you have your life, your faith, and following Christ all figured out, then this study is not for you. But who are you kidding? None of us have it all figured out! We all need to examine the life to which Christ calls us.
There is a ministry burning within your heart. God has a mission in mind for you right where your great passion meets the world’s great need.
Will you have to re-prioritize your life? You betcha!
Will you find new depths of love for yourself and others? Guaranteed!
